Former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle looks back on the time he met Bret Hart.
While speaking to Bill Apter and Dr. Chris Featherstone for Sportskeeda WrestleBinge during the WrestleCon event in Cleveland, Matt Riddle shared his experience meeting Bret Hart. He noted that one reason that he was not a huge fan of Goldberg was because he injured Bret Hart. Then, Riddle opened up about the time he met The Hitman.
“That’s also another reason why I am not a huge fan of [Goldberg]. Big Hitman [Bret Hart] fan. I will say this though. Big Hitman fan, growing up. Right? Not happy with Bill [Goldberg] with what he did right? But then, I met Bret at a WrestleMania. And I was at catering. If you’ve [Bill Apter] ever been, it’s pretty nice. So, I’m at catering, I’m enjoying it, and I get a table with Bret Hart. And I’m like, ‘Oh, this is cool. I’m gonna like… No, I’m not going to be a super-mark. I’m going to ask a couple questions. It’s the Hitman.’
“Bret wouldn’t even respond to me or my friend Damian Priest at the time. Because we were sitting next to some pretty attractive ladies… Didn’t ask me or Priest a single… You know, we didn’t talk.”
Matt Riddle On Bret Har’s Feud With Goldberg
During the interview, Riddle also said that one of Hart’s flaws was that he was still holding a grudge about Goldberg hitting him.
“Yeah, well, this is the thing. It’s not a matter of intentions. And honestly, I think that’s one of Bret’s flaws. Because, honestly, I could hold a grudge against a lot of people. So… the things people have said about me that are f***ing lies and everything else. And I just, ‘Meh.’ What am I supposed to do? Complain? Get on my soap box and preach about it? I don’t care. The cream always rises to the top. I’ll just keep working hard and doing the right thing. That’s it,” Matt Riddle said.
