The Watch List takes a look at what matches you should be watching and they come recommended by today’s professional wrestling stars.
WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard recently spoke with Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn, who were asked if there was a match or moment when they really recognized each other’s talent. Isla Dawn chose Alba Fyre’s match with Toni Storm and Piper Niven at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II.
Isla: “We were literally talking about this. Toni Storm, Piper Niven, Alba, formerly known as Kay Lee Ray from NXT UK, and that triple threat they had. I remember the people that were on that Takeover or went to Takeover, and we were doing an NXT UK taping like the week after, so we never went to Takeover and I was in the car and we were on the way to go to the hotel to go to the training camp or whatever.
“I remember watching the pay-per-view on my phone and that match and I was like, ‘They have just stolen the show.’ I was like, ‘They’re just so, so good.’ Everything they did with just this story and the athleticism and everything was just perfect. So, I’ve looked up to Alba. That’s one that always sticks in my mind as one of my favorite Alba matches.”
Alba Fyre looked back on Isla Dawn’s work with Meiko Satomura in NXT UK, adding that her confidence also got a boost against Tatum Paxley in NXT 2.0.
Alba: “Yeah, I really enjoyed yours with Meiko [Satomura]. I feel like over the past few years, you’ve always been good, but the past few years you’ve just solidified yourself. And when I was standing ringside for your match with Tatum [Paxley]. That’s when I was like, ‘Wow, we can run with this.’ It was just such a simple match, but you hit every point and you were just so confident in it. Your confidence has shot up, and I think that’s really helped.”
