Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch, Asuka Returns, Mylo Interview

Becky Lynch challenges Trish Stratus to a battle at WWE Night of Champions. Asuka delivers a receipt to Bianca Belair. No holds are barred between Anna Jay and Julia Hart. Mylo chats with WrestleZone, and more! Let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up.

Trish Stratus vs Becky Lynch Slated For WWE Night of Champions

After Trish Stratus‘ shocking betrayal, Becky Lynch challenged her former ally to a match at WWE Night of Champions.

Last week on RAW, Lynch made her return to the red brand, attacking Stratus from behind. This week, “The Man” had a follow-up message to deliver. Instead of dwelling on Stratus’ betrayal, Lynch expressed her gratitude for it.

“I want to say thank you, Trish, because when you hit me in the back of the head, you turned on a light that had been off for many, many, many months. And I want to say thank you, Trish, because when you stood in this ring and you called my daughter ‘stupid,’ you reminded me that the only thing that matters in this life is standing up for the people that depend on us. And I want to say thank you, Trish, because you gave all the badness in my head a face and a name and a target,” Lynch said. “

“At one stage, Trish, you were number one in this business, and you want to be number one again. But I am it. I have done it, made it. Don’t need a championship to prove it, and I will be it until I say it is over. You want it, you’ve got it.”

After sending out her thanks, Becky Lynch vowed to kick Trish Stratus’ head in at WWE Night of Champions on May 27. Next Monday, Stratus and Lynch will sign their official contracts for their premium live event match.

Asuka Returns

Following her loss to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania, Asuka disappeared from WWE programming completely… until last week on SmackDown.

Six weeks out from her devastating loss, Asuka returned to television to deliver a special gift to the current RAW Women’s Champion, Bianca Belair. As Belair celebrated her historic reign inside her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, Asuka appeared. Initially, “The Empress of Tomorrow” extended her hand as a gesture of congratulations. As Belair shook her hand, though, Asuka sprayed blue mist into the champion’s face. While Belair wailed in misery, Asuka jumped for joy watching her former rival struggle to see.

With this act of revenge, it seems that Asuka has officially turned heel. Could a WrestleMania rematch be in store for WWE Night of Champions??

Elsewhere on SmackDown, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez successfully defended their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Dakota Kai and Bayley. The duo was then scheduled to defend them again on RAW against Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville, but due to injury, Morgan could not make the appearance. As a result, Raquel Rodriguez took on and defeated Chelsea Green in singles action.

Anna Jay vs Julia Hart No Holds Barred, Thunder Rosa Returns

The rivalry between Anna Jay AS and Julia Hart came to an intense peak last week.

On the May 10 edition of AEW Dynamite, Jay and Hart squared off in a No Holds Barred match, and needless to say, they each utilized that stipulation to their advantage. As Hart made her entrance, she was met by a surprise chair shot from Jay. Hart quickly bounced back though, seizing control as she slammed Jay into the ringside barricade. Jay and Hart continued battling back and forth with chairs, steel stairs, and a trash can, but in the end, only one could win.

After suplexing Jay onto a pile of chairs, Hart locked in her Hartless submission. As Anna Jay taped out, Julia Hart was awarded with the victory.

A brief recap of the No Holds Barred match can be seen below, courtesy of our live coverage page.

No Holds Barred: Julia Hart vs. Anna Jay A.S.

Jay attacks Hart during her entrance. She throws a trash can into the ring. Hart dumps Jay to the outside and slams her into the barricade. Jay suplexes Hart on the floor. Hart takes control, but Jay fights back and slams her onto chairs at ringside. Jay hits Hart with a trashcan. She puts the can on Hart and kicks it. Hart suplexes Jay onto some chairs. She locks in the Hartless, and Jay taps out.

Winner: Julia Hart

Last week’s Dynamite also saw the return of former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa. As Renee Paquette stood outside Tony Khan’s office, she was approached by Thunder Rosa, who informed her that she’d be having a private discussion with Khan. The details of that conversation have yet to be unveiled, but it sure strikes up some interesting possibilities.
