Laynie Luck: Training Alongside Knockouts Champion Trinity Was Eye-Opening And Cool

The grind never stops for Laynie Luck.

Laynie Luck is always striving to better her craft inside the wrestling ring, and in October, she received an opportunity to do just that. Ahead of IMPACT Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view, Knockouts Champion Trinity stopped by Chicago’s Freelance Wrestling Academy for a pre-show training session. One of the participants in this session was current Freelance Tag Team Champion, Laynie Luck, who later shared a clip of Trinity locking up with her.

Speaking with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Luck recounted this awe-inspiring experience of training alongside Trinity. “What a legend, first of all. I have loved Trinity since she was a Funkadactyl. That’s when I really first started watching wrestling is when she was doing that. Then when she [start doing] the glow. I remember the debut of ‘the glow’ and I was so excited,” Luck said. “I always thought she’s so good, she should be holding a title. She should be someone this is centered around and that was my girl. I was so very excited.”

“When she went to IMPACT, I was like, ‘That’s so cool. Maybe things are a little more in reach now to be around her, maybe have a match with her someday.’ Then for [Mustafa] Ali to tell me, ‘Hey, Trin is gonna stop by and train.’ I said ‘You’re yanking my chain. You’re playing with me right now. I will lose my mind if she actually shows up.'”

In the moment

Despite her flight being delayed the day of their training, the Knockouts Champion still managed to make it in time, and carve out a valuable learning experience for Luck, and all the other performers in attendance.

“Her flight was delayed and she was running real late. She literally still just hopped right off the plane, got her rental car, and came right to the training building. She could have just said, ‘Hey guys, so sorry, things are a little late. Not going to come, not going to make it.’ But she did [come] and she just hopped right in there and ran these crazy things that we were running. Even though it’s not her training place, she doesn’t know the drills that we do, the things that we do and just to be able to see her adapt so quick [was cool],” Luck said.

“We’re in there, in the moment, and I’m saying XYZ. and she’s immediately making XYZ happen. It was very cool too because that’s probably one of the first times besides Ali that I was there with someone who’s been on TV for such a long time. So to finally experience what it’s really like in there with people like that, it was very eye-opening and very cool to feel like I can hang just right alongside of her.”
