Jessica Troy looks back on her unconventional encounter with Orange Cassidy.
Known as “The Arm Collector,” Jessica Troy prides herself on taking the arms of her opponents from all divisions. At Pro-Wrestling Australia‘s 2019 Colosseum event, Troy was particularly focused on collecting the arm of AEW‘s Orange Cassidy. With Cassidy’s hands stuffed in his pockets, though, that mission became more challenging than usual for Troy.
During an interview with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Troy recalled her in-ring battle with Cassidy, whose laid-back nature greatly opposed her intensity. Combined, they delivered an entertaining performance for the Sydney, Australia audience, and moreover, near 2 million viewers on YouTube.
“I think we mesh pretty well because I’m relaxed as a human, and right now, I’m pretty relaxed, but in the ring, I would say I’m not super relaxed. That’s probably when I get my energy out, but he’s like the opposite. He’s so relaxed in the ring, so you can see me throughout the match get more and more frustrated about just the lack of wrestling going on,” Troy said.
“I’m like I don’t know how to do what you’re doing. I don’t know how to do the funny parts. He’s just being funny around me and then I’m doing the wrestling around him. It’s like the best of both worlds.”
Eventually, Troy was able to free Cassidy’s hands from his pockets (and steal his sunglasses) in order to lock him in her signature Fujiwara armbar. In a surprise shift, Cassidy then escaped the hold and rolled up Troy for the match-winning pinfall. With it, Cassidy went on to face Matty Wahlberg (today known as WWE’s Grayson Waller) in the semi-finals of the 2019 Colosseum Tournament.
Jessica Troy Eyeing AEW Grand Slam Australia
In two months, All Elite Wrestling will return to Australia for a pair of shows in Sydney and Brisbane, respectively. Earlier this year, a number of Australian indie talents were invited to attend, and in some cases, compete in AEW’s 2025 outings.
Heading into AEW Grand Slam Australia and AEW House Rules 2026, Jessica Troy is aiming to secure a match with one of AEW’s top women.
“My brain first just goes to someone to someone [Australian]. Obviously it went to Toni Storm because like Aussie versus Aussie. How sick would that be? Then I thought of Mercedes Mone because I’m like the battle of the meteoras, because we both do a bunch of double knees. Also like Kris Statlander, that would be so much fun. I’d love that,” Troy said.
As of now, no matches have been made official for either Grand Slam in Syndey or House Rules in Brisbane, though “Timeless” Toni Storm and TBS Champion Mercedes Mone are both featured on promotional posters.
