Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Xia Brookside Turns On Lei Ying Lee, Wendy Choo Wins Evolve Title, Ladies Night Out 16

TNA star Xia Brookside turns on her best friend Lei Ying Lee. Wendy Choo wins the WWE Women’s Evolve Championship. Las Vegas gears up for Ladies Night Out 16 and more.

Xia Brookside Turns On Lei Ying Lee

Following her recent unsuccessful pursuit of the TNA Knockouts Championship, Xia Brookside appeared at last weekend’s Rebellion event to cheer on her best friend, Lei Ying Lee, as she challenged for the title next. In a shocking turn of events, Brookside ultimately blindsided Lee instead.

With defending champion Arianna Grace hoisted up, then dropped with a Warriors Way, Lee seemed on the verge of regaining the Knockouts Championship at Rebellion. When Lee made a cover on Grace, however, Brookside placed Grace’s foot on the bottom rope to ensure that the referee’s count would stop. As Grace then distracted the referee, Brookside dragged Lee to the outside and attacked her. A shove into the steel ring steps capped it off.

Upon returning to the ring, Lee met a knee to the back of her head, courtesy of Grace. With it, Grace secured the pinfall to retain her Knockouts World Championship. Meanwhile, Lee has since demanded answers from Brookside, which the England native has yet to give.

Elsewhere at Rebellion, The Elegance Brand defeated Knockouts legends Mickie James, ODB, and Taryn Terrell in a Hardcore Country Match after Ash by Elegance blinded ODB with hairspray and delivered a DDT.

Wendy Choo Wins Evolve Title

Last month, Kendal Grey officially ascended to the WWE NXT brand, meaning her Women’s EVOLVE Championship would be left behind. To crown a new champion, WWE then arranged a gauntlet match for the April 15 episode of EVOLVE

Competitors in the gauntlet match were: Wendy Choo, Karmen Petrovic, Tyra Mae Steele, Kali Armstrong, PJ Vasa, Laynie Luck, Sloane Jacobs, and Nikkita Lyons. Lyons herself eliminated three women from the field by pinning Steele, Armstrong, and Vasa, respectively.

Lyons and Choo emerged as the final two, with the latter leveraging her experience advantage over the former. In the final moments, Lyons hoisted Choo up for a tiger bomb, which Choo reversed into a roll-up for the win.

Choo, formerly known as Karen Q, marks her first title win under the WWE banner. As of this writing, her first challenger as WWE Women’s EVOLVE Champion is not determined yet.
