#3.) Dolph Ziggler puts his career on the line
In hindsight, it’s surprising to think that not many people talk about The Miz and Dolph Ziggler’s intense rivalry after the summer of 2016. After failing to capture the WWE title at SummerSlam, Ziggler would challenge for the Intercontinental Championship. After failing time and again due to external factors, The Miz refused to grant Ziggler another title shot.
In order to secure one, Ziggler offered to put his entire career on the line. It instantly amped up the interest to a whole new level and created a buzz around this match. There were even rumors that WWE was preparing “farewell video packages” for Ziggler, making people believe that his time in WWE was done.
The match itself was one of the best that year as it was a brilliant display of storytelling in the ring. Ziggler had the crowd behind him and had to overcome a whole bunch of obstacles, getting that feel-good title win at the end of it. There were very few moments over the years that matched that level of exhilaration.
