Jim Ross As GM, Wrasslin In June, NXT 2 Winner & More

Its January in June, for WWE fans.

Typically the start of the calendar year provides the best WWE programming as they start off with the always popular Royal Rumble. The Rumble brings an element of surprise and speculation and then after that is done, it sends them on a vicious work pace straight to WrestleMania in late March/early April.

June is traditionally one of the worst wrestling months. June going into July sees no NFL, NBA or NHL to compete against. Network sitcoms are not producing new weekly episodes because they are off until they debut new seasons in the fall. Competition for viewers attention on the television is at the years minimal for the WWE, but yet we are getting some compelling television right now.

Obviously the NXT angle is working. Creative writing that leaves you in suspense for the next episode and continuing mysteries are happening. Who is in control of the NXT guys? What will they do next? Who is this mystery GM? Is the GM the same person that is behind NXT? Is there a person behind NXT? Does Michael Tarver get any worse?

Tarver has a great look but he is the only one I cannot deal with. He over sells a bit too much, can’t talk real well, and seems to be always out of place. He kept getting in the way of Danielson screaming, spitting and then head kicking John Cena on the first night NXT made the anarchy statement on RAW. After seeing what happen to Danielson, perhaps Bryan should have let Tarver jump in and ruin the spot.

WHO IS THE GM?

As far as this General Manager goes, I will talk more about it as we share some of your emails on the Chair Shot Reality this week. In the largest email volume ever, we got rationales for every person under the sun and why they could be the GM.

But as it relates to it being done through a computer until the person is revealed, I love it. I love it. There is something very exciting and scary of this mystery person being anywhere sending emails right to the desk at ringside. Its new. We have seen mystery GM’s make the phone calls and relay messages through others, but this is something new and creative. Plus it gives Michael Cole a chance to speak to the area audience and they can boo him. I have nothing against Cole, but I get a kick out of how hated he has become over the year since Jim Ross has left.

Jim Ross the GM? He keeps blogging he has a “new role” with the WWE? I am sure he will write a blog in 2 minutes after this column is published and say how he is not needed on camera nor does he care to be. Yeah yeah JR, you can only hide behind the BBQ sauce for so long. I think it would be a big hit if he was the person in the role. We only ever hear about him via his blog, so it makes sense for him to communicate from a computer for a little bit.
