Stars In Progress: James Storm, Vengeance, Scott Hall & More

WWE Vengeance This Sunday

One Expected Step Up

Let me explain quickly and easily why I expect Vengeance tomorrow to be on the positive side of this feature come next week.  It's not because I am looking forward to another Cena and Del Rio title match.  Mark Henry beating Big Show will help Henry even further, but I'm not jumping up and down for that one.  Miz and Truth have lost their momentum already, much like CM Punk has lost the momentum he developed months ago, so I'm not extremely thrilled about the Miz/Truth vs. Punk/HHH tag match either.

On paper, Vengeance is what it was always expected to be – the second of two transitional, throw-away pay per views heading into Survivor Series.  And for the most part, it will be just that.   However, my gut tells me something bigger than the pay per view itself will happen.  An occurrence or return that will carry into Raw the next night and get the wheels to Survivor Series set in motion.

Why do I think this?  Because it has to!  Vince McMahon surely can't be happy with the recent state of his product.  All of the mass confusion and chaos that ultimately led nowhere, it's got to motivate Vince to do better.  Tomorrow night is his first true opportunity to start paving the road to Survivor Series.  It's been reported over and over again that Vince wants this year's Survivor Series in New York to be huge, so take advantage of today.  Well, tomorrow.

As Vengeance goes off the air tomorrow night, I expect clarity in the middle of uncertainty.  Answers surrounded by questions.  A buzz-worthy occurrence that makes us tune into USA tomorrow night 20 minutes early just to see how they follow up.  Now THAT is what I would call a step up.

Maybe I'm asking too much.
