Wrestlezone’s Top 10: Intercontinental Champions

Number 7: Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold

The Texas Rattlesnake rolls in at number 7 on the Top 10 Intercontinental Champions of all time. We all remember his King of the Ring speech, but it may have been a mistake that made him gain fame in such a quick matter. As his feud with Owen Hart was at a boiling point, they could face off in front of East Rutherford, New Jersey. On this night, Austin would suffer from a piledriver and break his neck. As Austin would try to get to his feet, he horribly rolled up Owen Hart and win the IC Title. Although it lasted short, Austin’s injury and return would help him get to the top much faster. He climbed the invisible ladder and shot to the top in the next calender year. After his return, he would win the title again and drop it in short fashion. What did this do? It made him and get into bigger matches, main events, and feuds that we could never forget. The glass broke, the music blared, and chugging beer was accepted. He broke barriers and it was all because of his IC title win, his injury, and the comeback trail.
