2/8 Wrestlezone Recap: Anonymous Letters From WWE, Emma Bombs in Raw Debut, Undertaker’s Return, WrestleMania Plans & More

Sting's Future in WWE

stingWord on the street is that Sting is very close to signing a deal with WWE. Unfortunately, rumor has it that it will mostly be some kind of WWE Legends deal, and he won't be working WrestleMania this year. Most likely, they want Sting to promote the WCW portion of the Network, and to eventually put him into the Hall of Fame in 2015.

I can't believe WWE would bring in Sting to never have him wrestle a match. I understand that it's too late to work him into the WrestleMania plans, especially if he hasn't signed a contract yet. Maybe he can't pass a physical, but I have a hard time believing that. He's definitely limited by age and injuries, but his last few matches on Impact show that he can still perform. There's always the chance that, for the third or fourth year in a row, Sting doesn't come to a deal with WWE and he heads back to TNA for "one more run". I think, if it were ever going to happen, now is the time. There's only so much that guy can have left in the tank. If he wants to wrestle a WWE match, it's got to be soon.

So when does it happen? Who, what, where, when and why? Sting-Undertaker has been rumored, but isn't ever likely to happen. Despite the gimmicks being there, and people drawing comparisons for the last 20 years, there isn't much of a story to be told. Fans will chant for Undertaker. You want Sting to play the role of babyface legend. So who does he work? Dean Ambrose? Bray Wyatt? Alberto del Rio? There's a lack of major heels on the roster, and none of them present an easy storyline opportunity for the Stinger. Obviously, they can build towards whatever they want, but nothing immediately jumps to mind, and certainly nothing is in place for WrestleMania XXX at this point.
