Sheamus: Step Up

sheamusDespite this week's RAW being really boring, I actually have very few complaints about any Superstar in particular. Which is why I had to branch off towards the NBA Playoffs just to find something to give a "step down".

Sheamus wins the United States Championship. In doing so, he got a fairly decent amount of heel heat. I'm sure he'll get more on Friday when he faces Ambrose in the return match. It makes sense. Sheamus has that "Cena quality" about him. That's the stigma, for better or worse. He's a babyface that cuts the same promos, works the same style match, and does Make-a-Wish visits. HOW DARE HE! Hulk Hogan couldn't get over in 2014 because people are morons.

Despite being a far better in-ring wrestler than John Cena, the fans treat him with the same contempt, and a far more serious dose of apathy. Sheamus isn't getting over as a babyface. At some point in the last few years, the vocal minority got themselves over, and now control the fate of whoever they see fit. It's making me absolutely HATE the WWE product. So they will turn Sheamus heel, and he will draw some heat, but not near as much as he should. The guy is a great worker, a great talker, and a great asset to the product. But again, the fans are morons.

I realize I've been overwhelmingly negative here, but Sheamus still gets a step up because his character progressed in a way that might be good for his future. Also, it was a surprising title switch most people didn't see coming (myself included), which I personally think we need MORE of in wrestling.

Other People Worth Mentioning

-Bray Wyatt: He gets a step up, but for the same reason he does every week, and has since making his debut. He's FANTASTIC. I just didn't feel like taking up multiple paragraphs to say the same thing I've been saying for months now.

-Paige: Step down. She wasn't on television. Simple enough. Why not?

-Tamina Snuka: Step down. Decent match at Extreme Rules, but a lady with her size and strength shouldn't be tapping out. And when AJ comes back, she'll be tapping out again.

-TNA: Look…I watched Impact Wrestling last week. I know I did. But I can't remember anything that happened. It was late, I may have fallen asleep. I'm sorry. There's TOO MUCH wrestling in the world right now, and very little of it I find myself invested in. No disrespect to any of the guys and gals over there, who are for the most part doing a great job, but I'm just exhausted on wrestling…
