Title This: NXT Takeover Reaction “A Strong Breeze Took Over The Night”

Triple Main Event

nxt takeover reactionTyler Breeze defeated Sami Zayn

Wow. I was simply amazed as how great this match was. It is hard to top Zayn vs. Cesaro, but this one came close. The determination from each guy was seen in their facial expressions. It felt real. It felt intense. There was so much action in the ring to type, which is why you can read about it here. Breeze picking up the win was the best move for NXT. He hits a Beauty Shot after Zayn misses a kick and feels the effect on his lower parts.

Tyler Breeze stole the show tonight. He was incredible in his pacing, setting up his moves and being able to keep up with Sami. Breeze is the new number one contender, while Zayn should get a main roster call-up. The 2 counts, the reversals, the attempted finishers. All three of these were a great combination to put on an instant classic. Breeze reminds me of a Ziggler/Narcissist/Michaels combination. He really uses his gimmick in the ring when executing his moves. I talked so much about him, but credit to Sami Zayn. Can you imagine his skill set translating into excellent matches on Raw or PPV's against Bryan, Ambrose, Rollins, Ziggler, Rhodes, etc? He can work with pretty much anybody and that is rare to see these days.

Charlotte defeated Natayla to become the next NXT Women's Champion

Take away the fact that it makes no sense for Natayla to be in an NXT Championship match. That does not matter here because these two Divas gave us one hell of a match. The ring psychology was very impressive from two divas, one who is still young in the business. Natalya and Charlotte worked a lot of submission moves, which I liked. Both of these Divas have a lineage of success, a legacy to carry on. Charlotte was able to work some figure four in, while Nattie locked in the Sharpshooter. Both Divas were able to break away from it and work on more aggressive moves offensively. Charlotte finally slammed Natalya's knee into the steps and finally took control once and for all. Charlotte hits her finisher, a somersault type neckbreaker, for the win.

Charlotte has a very bright future in WWE. Her time will come when she gets her chance. I do not want WWE to rush her, though. At 28 years old, Charlotte can be considered older than most "rookies" in WWE. With two years in NXT, she has took so many strides. Her gimmick is perfect and her wrestling is more polished than I thought. She is sexy in many ways and can easily carry a match if need be. WWE did the right thing in making Bret and Ric at ringside. It gave an important feel to it. At the end of the night, Natalya remains a good veteran who can help others get over. Charlotte will only get better and carry on the Flair name.

Adrian Neville defeated Tyson Kidd to retain the NXT Championship

The main event of the night was a fun one. For the second straight "Live NXT Special," Neville ends the night holding up the championship. Man, he is a strange looking dude with an incredible combination of athleticism and strength. Kidd slowly started the match and worked over the lower body of Neville. Kidd hits a running dropkick and some kicks to the chest. Neville reverses a tree of woe and hits a springboard splash. Kidd tries the Sharpshooter, but locks in a Dungeon Lock instead. Neville is able to grab the ropes.

The end of the match came fast and aggressive, with Neville able to hit a hurricanranna and Red Arrow for the win. Once again, Adrian Neville shows you why he is the champion. This was a really fun match to watch, even though it ranked third for me tonight. THAT should tell you how good of a show this way.

Score: 7.5/10

NXT Takeover was logical and entertaining. Sometimes, WWE tries too hard and books too illogically on Raw. This booking showed us that they can still put on a wonderful show without all of the fluff. Also, two hours is much easier to book than three.
