Wrestlezone’s Top 10: The Greatest Superstars in Smackdown History

Eddie Guerrero

los gringos locosEddie Guerrero is one of the few world champions to spend almost his entire career on the Smackdown brand. Following the brand split, WWE underwent a brief “golden era” for tag team wrestling, yielding four WWE Tag Team Championship runs for “Latino Heat”.

Eddie is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. The first match I recall seeing was a ladder match featuring him against Sean Waltman at WCW Souled Out ’97.  No matter what sort of program he was involved in, Eddie brought an extra level of passion and electricity to the story. He could be the greatest heel in the business while trying to rip apart Rey Mysterio‘s family, or the most beloved babyface, fighting for Mexican honor against the uber-villain John Bradshaw Layfield.

His time atop the WWE Championship throne was brief, but I doubt any wrestling fans old enough to see it will ever forget his moment with Chris Benoit at WrestleMania XX.

Viva la raza.
