5 Predictions for NXT Takeover: A New Star Emerges, Charlotte’s Championship, Fight Owens Fight, Retirements & More

Corey Graves will announce his retirement…and then not retire.

Graves has been out of action for all of 2014 after multiple concussions forced him to take some time off. There were a lot of rumors earlier in that year that WWE may not let him wrestle again, but I always assumed it was way too early to tell. After all, they let Mick Foley back in the ring with guys like Edge and Tommy Dreamer years after he was “never supposed to compete again”.

Graves has never appeared on a WWE Network era episode of NXT. That means, to the majority of their audience, he’s not on the radar. If he was being forced to retire, they would likely release him quietly and not create hype for an announcement.

My guess is that they’ll roll footage of what happened to him, Graves will say that doctors told him never to wrestle again, and he’ll announce his retirement from professional wrestling. Then an hour later, he’ll attack somebody and insert himself back into the weekly fold. Bull Dempsey is a solid choice. He could go straight for the main event, but WWE hasn’t been known to mess around with the big matches of these Takeover events.

Either way, that’s my prediction for Corey Graves tonight.
