Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose
Owens goes and Dean head to the outside and Kevin grabs the headset to talk trash. They come back into the ring and Dean Ambrose hits a side suplex and tries to add a move up top. Owens moves away, blocks Dirty Deeds and then kicks Dean. He hits a senton splash for a two count. Dean Ambrose finally fights back and hits a few left hands. He gets riled up, but a superkick stops his momentum. After a few reversals, Owens’ powerbomb is reversed and Dean hits a hurricanrana. Owens catches Ambrose and drives him into the apron. Owens with a big splash from the ring to the floor and then brings him back into the ring. In control, Kevin Owens goes for the knockout, but Ambrose counters and hits Dirty Deeds out of nowhere for the win.
As much as I dislike Dean Ambrose, he does put on pretty good matches. His chemistry with Kevin Owens is smooth and really smart. Both guys are similar, but I see Owens as the more athletic and agile guy. He takes more chances and risks, connecting on more and focusing on his character outside of the physicality. Dean needs to find his niche, find his persona inside the ring to translate to the outside persona. Either way, another really good singles match to spotlight that any and all of the men involved in the ladder match (maybe aside from Sami Zayn) could grab the briefcase and become a future champion.
Rusev vs. Jack Swagger
Is this the new Sheamus vs. Randy Orton with less star power? Another night and another match, this time with Rusev getting the win in not so easy fashion. Titus is on commentary and talks about how he should represent the United States of America. Really? This storyline AGAIN? This is too repetitive and really does nothing for me.
I want Titus to succeed, but how can they expect that where there is no originality? We are now to say that Titus is a real American because he was an athlete at Florida? Like, what is the point on repeating this mediocre storyline?
