Not Understanding The Booking Decisions

Not having Becky Lynch really hurt the women’s spotlight tonight at No Mercy. First, we had Nikki Bella pick up a victory over Carmella. I think Nikki has come so far from when she debuted and really carried this match from an offensive standpoint. She would hit Rack Attack 2.0 and pick up the victory over a pretty average match. Alexa Bliss came out and talked about how she hurt Becky Lynch and Becky was afraid to face her. She still had a match and competed against Naomi. Naomi, surprisingly picked up the win over the number one contender.

Okay, let’s easily break this down. What does this win do for Nikki right now? Yes, she is better than Carmella in the ring but a win for the rookie woman would make her feel important and make her feel like she can one day become champion. Does this completely bury her? No, but a win here would have made everyone view her as a threat and not just another woman losing to Nikki Bella.

Alexa Bliss lost to Naomi. The number one contender lost an unannounced match to Naomi on a Pay-Per-View. So, Alexa goes from cleaning beating Becky Lynch to cleanly losing to someone who hasn’t had a big win her entire career. Where is the logic of that? Why in the world would they book this to make your CONTENDER to a CHAMPIONSHIP look weak? Illogical and misused are the two words I would use for tonight’s women.

Baron Corbin defeated Jack Swagger

The Real American vs. The Lone Wolf. Two similar styles of offense clashed tonight and I was not a fan. Justin LaBar loves Baron Corbin because he owns the heel persona. Yes, he does, but no reaction is not a good thing. Who is Baron Corbin? Why does he wear those ridiculous pants and why are we supposed to hate him? This is a guy that has no identity to me and that is a reason why he is thrown in random matches without direction. You can’t give a direction to a blind guy, and Baron is Stevie Wonder. With Jack Swagger, he gets a week or two of interesting developments only to lose to Corbin. It was the right call, but this fell flat and never grabbed my interests. Hopefully, WWE lets Baron become identifiable and relies on Swagger’s former success to help him get credible once again.
