NXT Tag Team Championship Swerve

A Ladder Match determined the NXT Tag Team Championships in the main event of NXT Takeover Chicago. #DIY would get another chance to become champions and stop the massive mountain of men known as The Authors of Pain. Tonight was more about the future of two superstars.

First off, the match was excellent. Painful, physical and fast. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa came so close so many times to capture the titles. Some of the excellent moves included both men hitting splashes onto The Authors of Pain through ladders. Furthermore, they hit their finisher on Rezar with a ladder stuck around his neck. When the ending came, AoP were able to have both men hanging up on the titles and hitting Powerbombs to end the night. We thought the night was over, but we were wrong.

WWE dragged out the end with #DIY, but Ciampa turned on Gargano. He threw him into the screen, kneed him in the face and then put him through tables off of the stage. With no emotion and intense looks in his eyes, Ciampa broke up their most talented tag team in NXT.

It was perfectly executed. #DIY losing means that it would be another loss under their belt. So, what would be the point of keeping them together? I thought this was a fantastic way of breaking them up. They get the most heat from a hot crowd, they have plenty of time to marinate the feud even more and now you get two guys who could help another division or show after the NXT Takeover Brooklyn event. I am already interested in this match and we have plenty of time to let it get even more interesting. Lastly, Authors of Pain are great. It is rare to see such a young team that is so big work the type of matches that they have. These guys are super talented and earned this main event.

Tonight was a massive success. Just think of how good future NXT Takeovers will be with Aleister Black, Kassius Ohno and Drew McIntyre on the card.

His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school.
