Isenberg Reacts: WWE NXT “Friendship Finally Turns Volatile”

Hideo Itami vs. Kassius Ohno

Friends do battle in the main event, with Itami working over Kassius with some stiff kicks. This gets Ohno angry enough to get up after a neck snap from the ropes and slap Itami in the chest. He hits a leg lariat and then is ready to hit him with some elbows. A spinning boot gives him a two count and then a Senton Splash for another close call. Hideo hits a Fisherman’s Suplex and then a running dropkick into the corner. He goes for the GTS, but ends up getting a boot to the face. He ends up getting disqualified with a low blow, where he snaps and takes Ohno out with some GTS finishers.

This is something that has been brewing for months and finally a great turn is solidifed. Hideo Itami has needed something like this and has been a guy with so much talent, yet so little personality. His GTS is hard to execute on larger men, but it worked tonight with his heel turn. Ohno is a likable guy from the NXT Universe and you saw a slow, but methodical turn from him. The GTS to land Ohno on the steps was a nice way to end the night, really showing how full circle he has come.  They should be able to tear the house down in Brooklyn, where a 20 minute match can be magic between these talented performers who are finally getting comfortable in their skin in NXT.
