Isenberg Reacts: WWE SummerSlam “Do We Have The WrestleMania Main Event Already?”

Big Cass vs. Big Show

Big Cass and Big Show at SummerSlam was a big bore. The crowd did not like it, I did not really enjoy it and Enzo Amore escaping the shark cage was the only somewhat entertaining part of this match. As we saw on WWE RAW, Big Cass cut a great promo. Unfortunately, the energy and intensity did not trickle over to tonight, which I was really hoping it did. Big Cass has potential, but feuding with Big Show does nobody favors. This should be the end of a match and feud that had NO right to be on the main card. The match and the booking was below average. The only good part, I guess, is that Cass won in demanding fashion.

Randy Orton vs. Rusev

Rusev attacks Randy Orton as he is posing on the ropes. Randy gets up and the match is about to start. The bell rings and Rusev misses a splash in the corner, allowing Randy Orton to hit an RKO and be victorious after ten seconds.

That was…surprising. Rusev and Randy could have worked a really good 10-15 minute match. The outcome would have felt more important to everyone if Randy was the one who was beaten quickly, but this makes up for him being beating multiple times by Jinder Mahal and getting destroyed last year by Brock Lesnar.

Rusev and Corbin are two “future” pieces of WWE, but they will NEVER be as important than John Cena and Randy Orton. As much as we want to see all of the young guys thrive, I can understand why WWE does not let these guys lose over and over and over and over again. Rusev looked strong before the bell rang and got hit with an RKO right after. It is not the end of the world for him. Was it for Daniel Bryan when Sheamus Brogue Kicked him in the face at WrestleMania 28? Rusev can easily bounce back from this low profile match at SummerSlam.
