Rickey Shane Page Hopes To Compete In A Star Of Death Match In MLW

Rickey Shane Page is having a good time in MLW.

WrestleZone spoke with Rickey Shane Page ahead of MLW Slaughterhouse, where he will compete in a “Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal” match. The MLW National Openweight Champion has 13 match stipulations he could possibly face, but he wants the one match that has never been filmed before.

The original (and only, so far) Star of Death match took place at AAA’s December 9, 1995 event in Los Angeles. The match saw Konnan, Perro Aguayo, Perro Aguayo Jr., Rey Misterio Jr. & Super Calo defeat Cibernetico, Damian 666, Halloween, Juventud Guerrera & Psicosis inside of a sixteen-sided cage. According to legend, the TV crew didn’t show up, so the match was not taped.

“The Star Of Death. It’s this old Lucha match that happened. Court [Bauer, MLW owner] told me about this match. It happened it AAA, it was a 12-man tag, 6-on-6 and they had this [multi-sided] cage. It was like a Hell In A Cell [style] cage around the ring,” Rickey Shane Page explained, “but in the shape of a star.

“All of these crazy people were in it, but apparently, it was never filmed. [laughs] So there’s no real proof of it other than Konnan was in it, so he talks about it,” he added. “Rey Mysterio, Juventud Guerrero, Super Calo, like a bunch of people were in it, a bunch of Luchadores. I just think it’s funny that they put it on there. I hope [the wheel lands on that].”

Part of the Flock

Rickey Shane Page is one of many new names to join MLW in recent months. He’s adapted well as part of The Calling. The stable, led by Raven, gives Page the chance to work with a legend in the wrestling business.

“It’s crazy. I used to watch MLW on the Sunshine Network when I was younger. And to be wrestling there now is cool in itself. But to be in a predominant role that they’re focusing on, especially with Raven, who is one of my all-time favorite wrestlers,” he said. “And just for me personally, like as a fan, when you go look at the Raven’s Flock, the Raven’s Nest Wikipedia, my name is on there now. For me, that’s a huge deal. I think that’s so cool.

“I like all the names that MLW is bringing in too. They’re bringing in really good talent. They’re building up the roster and doing a lot of fun stuff, cool and intriguing storylines. It’s just cool to be part of it and to watch it happen,” he noted, “to watch all of the new people come in and have fun and the crowd to like it. I’m just having a good time.”

MLW Slaughterhouse takes place on October 14 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. The event will also be available to order on FITE.
