The only thing that made the rivalry between Jericho and Chris Benoit suffer was the fact that it was a very on-and-off type of feud. Despite this, they feuded for a good part of 2000 and their rivalry culminated in an all-time classic ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at Royal Rumble 2001.
The two Canadians may have had some familiarity with each other from their WCW days, which is perhaps why they had such natural chemistry together. When the two went at it in the ring, fans knew there was something special as they were witness to a display of technical mastery and in-ring magic. Later in 2001, they would team together to take down the Two Man Power Trip and win the tag team titles.
