#4.) Winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship
Though Tetsuya Naito didn’t find too much success in the early stages of 2016, things had begun to take a turn for him. He won the New Japan Cup and earned a title shot against then-champion Kazuchika Okada. Okada was on a roll, and thanks to LIJ, Naito was able to pull off an upset and defeat his old rival.
He would capture the IWGP Heavyweight Championship for the first time, and in a shocking move, he would just throw the title away. This would become one of his trademarks when holding a title. He would, unfortunately, lose the title back to Okada in just two months, and Okada would begin the greatest IWGP Heavyweight title reign of all time.
