#3.) Mike Tyson and the coronation of Steve Austin

McMahon knew exactly what he had to do in the aftermath of the Montreal Screwjob. The heat that he and Shawn Michaels had was going to be used to create the biggest star of the era – ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Austin had been on the rise for two years at that point and WrestleMania 14 was the perfect time to coronate The Texas Rattlesnake.

The addition of Mike Tyson as the “enforcer” of the match added a lot more interest to the storyline because Tyson, despite being on a 2-fight losing streak, was one of the biggest sports stars in the entire world.  The WrestleMania 14 main event saw Michaels vs Austin and it was the perfect example of the trigger being pulled at the right time. Austin won and cemented himself as the face of the company. Michaels retired for a few years, but Austin leading the company meant that WCW stood no chance whatsoever.
