Roman Reigns shocked the wrestling world on Monday Night RAW, and that included his fellow performers. According to Sasha Banks, nobody knew backstage about his battle with leukemia. Banks told Maria Menounos about experiencing the announcement backstage on her Conversations podcast.
“I didn’t know [about the Roman Reigns leukemia announcement beforehand],” revealed Banks. “I’m still shaken from that news.” She says that she was backstage preparing for her match when the announcement occurred. “Everyone just stopped and was watching some kind of screen,” said Banks. “I’m like ‘What’s going on?'”
She also went on to speak about how none of the talent backstage knew about the situation beforehand. “I ran to gorilla [position] because he is the strongest, most amazing man I’ve ever met. He’s taught me so much since I’ve been on RAW. To know he has been battling with this and didn’t tell a soul…He is legit. He is a leader. Everyone looks up to him. There are no bad words that anybody can say about him because he is the hardest working person I’ve ever met, and I wish him all the best. I know he’s gonna overcome this.”
