WALTER Reportedly Signs With WWE

Independent wrestling star WALTER has reportedly signed with WWE.

PWInsider.com is reporting multiple sources have confirmed WALTER has signed with the company, the report coming months after the wrestler initially denied signing with the company. WALTER originally responded to a report by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that said the company was interested in signing him, saying “nobody offered anything, not true!”

The Austrian wrestler will finish up current independent dates (which were previously booked) and will reportedly be part of WWE’s European plans, which would include the NXT UK brand. PWInsider said Pro Wrestling Guerrilla allegedly tried bringing him back for a farewell appearance, but the terms of the new WWE deal prevented that from happening. It was also noted that the signing with WWE is why he dropped the PWG title to Jeff Cobb last month.

Earlier today, WrestleTalk reported new contract restrictions for NXT UK talents could impact upcoming appearances. While WALTER’s name was not specifically cited, WrestleTalk stated talents under the new WWE / NXT UK deals would be able to finish bookings if the following guidelines were met:

  • talent can only wrestle on a show if there is a paramedic there
  • NXT UK talent will not be permitted to wrestle against anyone contracted to ROH, Impact, NJPW, WOS or any other major promotion

WALTER is currently scheduled to appear for Fightclub Pro, RevPro and Defiant this weekend.
