Wrestlezone announced nominations for our 2018 Wrestlezone Year-End Awards earlier today. Voting will take place now through Sunday, December 30th. Fans can vote for all ten categories by choosing a listed option or writing in a pick. CLICK HERE to vote for each category and submit your choices.

In the run up to the awards, we’ll be running through the nominees each day. Today’s subject will be: Wrestler of the Year.

Cody Rhodes

What a year for this trailblazer. Rhodes managed to hold championship gold in Ring of Honor, NWA, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. That’s an incredible accomplishment. On top of great matches, he also made waves on the business side by putting on All In with the Young Bucks.

Kenny Omega

The current IWGP Heavyweight Champion arguably put on the best matches of the year. From a brutal match against Chris Jericho to shocking bouts with Okada, Omega’s year was filled with five-star classics.

AJ Styles

Styles held the WWE Championship for most of the year, and was who WWE depended on for great matches. Not everything in his SmackDown run was gold, but every match was entertaining.

Seth Rollins

During 2018 it wasn’t Monday Night RAW, but rather Monday Night Rollins. The Intercontinental Champion participated in some fantastic matches, and made the show exciting even during some creative dry spots.

Kazuchika Okada

While Okada lost his belt, his storyline has been as exciting as ever. Okada hasn’t lost a step in the ring either, as he still put on some classics this year.

Tommaso Ciampa

The NXT Champion has had one heck of a year. Not only did he get one over on Johnny Gargano, but he captured the belt he coveted.

Jay Lethal

Jay Lethal is once again Ring of Honor’s ace, and he’s put on some great matches as champion. In particular, his bout against Jonathan Gresham is a match of the year contender.

Johnny Impact

Impact has been seen in several promotions, but his work at IMPACT Wrestling has been superb. He currently is the promotion’s champ thanks to an excellent match against Austin Aries.

Of course, these are only a few of the incredible wrestlers that had a great 2018. As such, you can write-in any wrestler you want for your vote from Tanahashi to David Arquette.
