Daniel Bryan Retains The WWE Championship At Elimination Chamber

Daniel Bryan is still the planet’s champion, as he was able to retain the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber.

Bryan started the match by facing off with Samoa Joe, and ended up getting the final pinfall after a very hard fought battle with Kofi Kingston. Kofi surprised Bryan by kicking out of a number of pinfalls and nearly won on a few occasions, hitting Bryan with Trouble In Paradise twice. Bryan ultimately picked up the win after Kofi missed a splash off of the top of one of the pods, and Bryan connected with Knee Plus to pick up the win.

Following the match, Xavier Woods and Big E ran out to the ring and consoled their New Day stablemate, with Big E telling Kofi he deserved this moment as the crowd chanted for him.

One statistic of note was mentioned after the bout; tonight’s WWE Championship match marked the fourth time in history that the reigning champion started the Elimination Chamber and retained his title.
