With Charlotte Flair now in the WrestleMania picture, it looks like a solo match between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch isn’t happening. While some fans are upset, Tom Phillips was on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio and explained why a triple threat is better.
“The buildup to Survivor Series, when we were first anticipating getting Ronda vs. Becky, it was a really exciting moment,” said Phillips. “To see all of that taken away has fueled a lot of the reason why fans [care]. There’s so many things over the years with Becky that have made them care, all the wins over the summer, Charlotte scoops the title at SummerSlam then Nia Jax punches her in the face and we lose that match.”
Phillips then explained why a triple threat makes more sense for the story. “I’d love to see that match one on one but I think throwing Charlotte into the mix is really enticing. The star power in that match alone, as a triple threat, you can’t touch it. It’s the three most talked about superstars in WWE. To leave any one of them out of the equation, I think the story is incomplete. So, I think to have all of them in a triple threat feels right.”
