Kofi Kingston Talks Experienced Superstars Getting More Opportunities

Kofi Kingston sat down with The Independent to talk about his recent run and promote the WWE UK Tour in May. Among the topics discussed were popular household names being a major part of WrestleMania and getting air time on WWE TV. Kofi was asked if him and some of the established veterans of the wrestling business still have more to offer to fans.

“Absolutely, one thousand percent. AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton… you forget how long they’ve been doing this for. I don’t think there’s a person watching them that would say ‘they need to hang up their boots’ – they’ve got a lot more gas left in the tank.” Kofi would continue by saying he is grateful of the run he just started having and understands WWE is a hugely competitive market with limited hours of airtime each week.

Kingston was asked who he thinks deserves a chance in WWE. “I am happy to see Apollo Crews getting some time and he had a real good match with Kurt Angle on Raw last week. He is super athletic and super talented, so for him to get a chance to shine is awesome. I also think 205 Live is one of WWE’s best kept secrets.”

The topic was then brought up of him and his New Day group. He got emotional just thinking about everything because of how close he is with Xavier Woods and Big E. “I get emotional thinking about it. The struggle for all of us getting on to television, was a very real struggle that we all went through together. Our support for each other is very real.”
