Big Show Slams Betsy DeVos For Proposing Budget Cuts To Special Olympics

WWE has built an amazing partnership with The Special Olympics over the years. One WWE Superstar, who serves as a Special Olympics ambassador, and holds the partnership close to his heart, is former World Champion The Big Show.

When “The World’s Largest Athlete” caught wind that U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos was attempting to cut ALL funding to the games, Big Show told TMZ he’s “appalled” by the proposal:

“She’s like Cruella De Vil,” said Big Show. “I’m appalled.”

DeVos proposed some major budget cuts for the upcoming fiscal year, but one of them includes cutting off all $18 million allocated for the Special Olympics:

“This is like the most ridiculous budget cut, one-sided bullsh*t that could ever be done,” Show said. “The message she’s sending is that people with special needs, children with special needs, aren’t important enough to be part of society.”

Big Show went on to say that the Special Olympics isn’t about kids “running and competing for medals.” It sends a much more positive message:

“It’s not about kids running and competing for medals,” Show said. “It’s not like that. These kids are seen by doctors. There are so many education things, group programs, things that help them improve their quality of life … and to take away that opportunity, it’s just a horrible, callous, insensitive decision.”
