Paul Heyman didn’t feel like waiting so he decided to kick off WrestleMania with the Universal Championship match. Heyman’s client, Brock Lesnar, defended the Universal Championship against the 2019 Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins. The Architect was determined to end Lesnar’s reign of terror at WrestleMania. Rollins hoped the support of the WWE Universe would help him slay the beast.

Lesnar attacked Rollins before the bell rang and dropped him with an F5 outside the ring. The assault continued for several minutes. The referee finally started the match and the champion continued to dominate. The Beast Incarnate gave Rollins an express ride to Suplex City but Rollins fought back with a low blow. The challenger hit three Curb Stomps to win the match and the Universal Championship.
