Planned Super ShowDown Women’s Match Cancelled By Saudi Government

As reported by Wrestling Observer, a planned Super ShowDown bout between Alexa Bliss and Natalya has been scrapped after failing to gain approval from the government of Saudi Arabia. Both performers flew to Jeddah with the rest of the WWE crew after the government indicated that the women’s match could take place. The government changed their minds once WWE arrived.

Getting women on the card in Saudi Arabia has been a stated goal of WWE during their ten-year partnership to put on shows in Saudi Arabia. WWE has hopes that they can convince the government to allow the match on November’s Saudi show, which would allow them to promote the match during today’s Super ShowDown. If the women don’t appear, it’s business as usual, which has not been great when it comes to WWE’s PR as of late.
