Scarlett had been with IMPACT Wrestling since making her debut (as the ‘Smokeshow’ character) on July 26, 2018. It was reported that she had requested her release last month by PWInsider.com, but it was unclear at the time if her request would be granted. While terms are unclear regarding how much longer she had remaining on her deal, it was believed that the current contract ran out sometime this summer.
During a recent appearance on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Killer Kross addressed reports that he had asked for his own release and also talked about Scarlett’s situation as well. Kross (who is also Scarlett’s boyfriend) said her financial situation is worse than his, and she still needs to live at home with her mother and has a side job to support herself while balancing a professional wrestling career.
Scarlett did work the last set of IMPACT Wrestling tapings, so she will likely still appear on television in the next few weeks. Scarlett also continues to work for AAA Mexico, and was recently confirmed as appearing at WrestlePro’s I (Hart) Wrestling event in Alaska in December.
Updated: Scarlett has since commented on the news, posting the following on Twitter:
I couldn’t be more excited to just be a free agent for a while. With that being said, promoters I’m looking to fill July 6th and July 19th! [email protected]#Independent #Smokeshow #StillMakingWrestlingSexyAgain https://t.co/owUZskKWro
