Eddie Marlin, the former Memphis wrestling star and promoter, passed away Thursday morning at age 89.
Memphis Wrestling’s Randy Hales announced the unfortunate news on social media last night. Jerry Jarrett (Marlin’s son-in-law and Jeff Jarrett’s grandfather) recently told fans that Marlin was being moved to hospice care and that his organs had failed. According to another one of Jarrett’s posts, the doctor told them he was surprised that Marlin survived as long as he did in that condition.
As a wrestler, Marlin was a former NWA Southern Tag Team Champion, NWA World Six-Man Tag Team Champion, and NWA Mid-America Tag Team Champion. He also worked as the on-air General Manager of the Continental Wrestling Association, later re-named the United States Wrestling Association.
I’m said to say Eddie Marlin passed away at 5am this morning.
I waited to all the family were told until I made this post.
I will do a FB Live Tonight 8:30 Central.
