Eli Drake recently joined Steve Austin on his podcast, The Steve Austin Show, to discuss a variety of topics, including the fact that he has turned down some WWE offers and that he nearly signed with All Elite Wrestling before heading to NWA.
According to Drake, he’s been receiving interest from WWE for the last three years, and has consistently been turning them down due to the fact that IMPACT Wrestling keeps giving him raises. However, WWE isn’t the only company looking to grab him. Drake also revealed that AEW had interest in signing him, and that they nearly had a deal worked out, but it ended up falling through.
Drake said he’s had offers from other companies as well, and specifically noted that Billy Corgan and NWA’s interest was the most appealing. Drake also mentioned that the buzz around him is at an all-time high, and is very new to him. However, he also said that at the end of the day, he’s going to do what’s best for him as a businessman, but that his main focus at the moment is also NWA because it’s what is currently hot in wrestling.
