Cody Rhodes welcomed in the new year in a big way, as he took down Darby Allin in his first match with Arn Anderson in his corner on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

The victory not only marked the first win for Rhodes with Anderson beside him, but also a big win against Allin. Last year by himself, Rhodes was unable to take down Allin, as the two fought to a time limit draw. This time, however, Rhodes was determined to come away with a win, and did just that in a tightly contested match.

In a match that saw both superstars lay everything on the line for the win, it was Rhodes who was able to outsmart Allin just enough for the win. Late in the match, Allin went onto the top rope to attempt a second Coffin Drop, but Rhodes was able to get his legs up, which hurt Allin enough to let Rhodes roll him up for the win.
