Ember Moon: Achilles Injury Happened During 24/7 Championship Segment

Ember Moon says her Achilles injury happened in a 24/7 Championship segment and not during a match.

Ember Moon was a guest on the Hall Of Fame podcast with Booker T and revealed her Achilles injury actually happened while she was chasing after the 24/7 Championship in a segment that aired on SmackDown on September 24.

Ember talked about getting called to RAW and SmackDown that week, where she worked with Lacey Evans on RAW before being told about the 24/7 segment the following night. Ember walked Booker through practicing the segment with R-Truth and reveals how the timing was off when they did the segment live compared to the run-through, and that’s when the injury happened.

“We do the run-through, and I told Truth, I was like, ‘Truth, you better run, I’m gonna catch you, Truth. If I catch you, I’m tackling you and you’re going down.’ And so when we actually did it, I almost—I literally caught them right before we went through the curtain. So they go through the curtain and they didn’t realize how close I was behind them, like ‘aha!’ As I’m coming through, the curtain shuts, I open it, go through. Truth is dropping Carmella and I have to hit, from me to you and I’m going full speed. I had to hit the brakes. I was just like, ‘whoa,’ and I felt a pop.”

Ember says it initially felt like a scratch and it was a weird feeling, but she didn’t know how bad the injury was until she flew home. She said initially had no swelling but ended up not being able to put weight on it at home and ended up going to a few doctors. She says she initially believed she would be out for a few weeks before finally being diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles.

Ember’s last match was the same match with Lacey Evans on September 23. Ember also appeared on WWE Backstage in November and confirmed the severity of her injury. It was initially reported that she could be out for a year but there is no timetable for her return right now.
