Tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown began with chaos, as the show opened up on a scene outside of the WWE Performance Center, where Elias was being cared for by paramedics after reportedly being hit by a vehicle.
With police on the scene, officers found an open bottle of liquor and a note that alleged the rental car belonged to Jeff Hardy. While searching for him, Hardy was found in bushes away from the car, and claimed to be suffering from head pains while repeatedly saying that he wasn’t drinking. Despite the denials, officers said that the man smelled like alcohol, and quickly took him into custody for more questioning as Elias was taken away in an ambulance.
It remains to be seen just who was behind all of this, but it has thrown a wrench into the plans for the WWE Intercontinental Championship tournament, as both Hardy and Elias were set to participate in matches. Instead, a battle royal will take place, with the winner facing Daniel Bryan to see who faces off against AJ Styles in the tournament’s finals in two weeks.
