Zicky Dice On What Inspires His ‘Outlandish’ Personality, Sifting For Gold In Wrestling Classics

The Watch List takes a look at what matches you should be watching while you’re at home and they come recommended by your favorite professional wrestling stars.

WrestleZone recently spoke with NWA World Television Champion Zicky Dice, who is quickly building his name in the wrestling world. A callback to wrestling’s golden age, Zicky says he’s a fan of the classics and spoke about the wrestlers that inspire his look today.

“I like to watch a lot of older wrestling. I’ve been watching a lot of Arn Anderson, Dynamite Kid recently, and I just let it go on in the background. The other day I watched three hours of ‘Macho Man’ and it was great. That’s the wrestling that I grew up on. ‘OK, that’s something that can inspire ‘Outlandish’ Zicky Dice’ you know? You see the colors, the character, the way I cut my promos, it’s based around the late ‘80s, early ‘90s wrestling. That’s what I grew up loving and I was told time and time again that it will never work today in this day and age, and here we are now.

“I just recommend throwing on random stuff, something you’ve never heard of or seen before, that’s what I like doing and I think it’s fun. There are some hidden gems in there, and for me, there’s some moves in there that I’m taking notes on and working in that people haven’t seen in 30-40 years. It’s recycling, it’s great. Get something old, new, just something different.”

Zicky added that also likes watching wrestling without commentary from time to time and said the whole process is comparable to “sifting for gold” because “you’ll find some golden nuggets in there somewhere.”

We added some free-to-watch recommendations to the list and selected a good mix of bouts from Zicky’s career, as well as some classic matches featuring some of his inspirations.
