Earlier this week, reported indicated that WWE had renewed its trademark the name “Cody Rhodes,” despite Rhodes himself trying to claim ownership of it in April. Taking to social media, Rhodes said that he wouldn’t let the hiccup stop anything.
On Twitter, Rhodes responded to a tweet regarding the situation, saying that the issue isn’t as scandalous as many may claim. According to Rhodes, he knows that it’s just business, and that WWE knows that can make money off of the Rhodes brand. However, despite WWE retaining ownership of the trademark, Rhodes said that won’t stop anything, and that he doesn’t hold any grudge.
It’s not as sultry/scandalous as reported. It’s just business. They’ve seen the same data we have, and they know they can make big money off the brand(even though it’s not in their house). Trying to license me is flattering, but it doesn’t stop this train from moving. No grudge. https://t.co/7pkPtU1Cry
