Alberto Del Rio Sexual Assault Trial Pushed Back

Alberto Del Rio’s sexual assault case was supposed to go to trial today, but it has been delayed.

Per PWInsider, the trial has been moved to May 3, 2021. No reason it was pushed back is known, and it was a late call by the court as Del Rio was ready for trial this morning. The former WWE Champion is facing charges of aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault.

The police report, obtained by TMZ, says that Del Rio, whose real name is Jose Rodriguez Chucuan, accused the woman of cheating on her. He then allegedly destroyed her cell phone and laptop and tried to burn her passport. The attack started around 10 p.m. on May 3 and continued until 2:30 p.m. the next day.

Previously, the accuser had apologized to Del Rio “for the damages caused by my mistakes.” That Instagram post has now been deleted. While it seems that she wasn’t pursuing charges any further at the time, only the state of Texas can actually dismiss the charges and they are still going forward with the case.
