Shaquille O’Neal made a promise that pro wrestling fans are all too familiar with — he guaranteed a win!
Shaq spoke with the Associated Press ahead of his in-ring debut on AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, a tag team match pitting himself and Jade Cargill against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Short of channeling his inner Vince McMahon and “guaran-damn-teeing” the final outcome, The Big Aristotle did say he’s sure he’s walking away with a win.
“Oh, I’m winning,” O’Neal said. “Guaranteed.”
Shaq and Cody’s feud was first hinted at after Cargill showed up in November and talked Rhodes down, calling Shaquille O’Neal the real deal. Shaq called Cody out himself shortly after, and now says he’s entering a world he’s not familiar with, but he’s bringing a gameplan that isn’t out of his comfort zone.
“I’m the type, I can never back down from a challenge. I’m not a professional wrestler, but I’ve been in a match before. I’ve got a lot of moves in my arsenal. When you step inside somebody’s world, you have to stick to what you’re masterful at. I’m not acrobatic. I’m not going to be jumping off the ropes,” O’Neal explained. “I’m coming with the power game. When I get hands on him, I’m going to display this power.”
