Tonight’s episode of NXT saw Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez, and despite the match ending with Jax and Baszler retaining their title, there was a bit of controversy to the match.
Late in the match, Dakota Kai was tagged out by her partner during an intense back-and-forth in the ring. However, Gonzalez and Jax were fighting outside of the ring and crashed over the announce table. Inside the ring, Baszler locked Kai into the Kirifuda Clutch, and in a shocking turn of events, Adam Pearce came running out with a referee from RAW, who he motioned to go to the ring. Despite Kai not being the legal partner, the referee called for the bell, giving the win to Jax & Baszler and leaving Kai stunned once she came to.
