The Rock Announces Summer 2022 Release Date For ‘Black Adam’

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has announced that Black Adam, a film about the DC Comics character of the same name, will premiere next summer.

In a video on his Instagram, and later shared on his Twitter, Johnson revealed the film’s release date of July 29, 2022. The video shows an brief advertisement for the movie on billboards in Times Square.

The film, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, has been in development for several years, as Johnson was cast in his starring role in 2014. Though the developmental process has been slow, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic, filming is set to begin in April. In addition to his role as the lead, Johnson is a producer of the film, which will also star Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell and Pierce Brosnan as various members of the Justice Society of America.
