Maria Kanellis was the ultimate team player on “the grandest stage of them all.” The last time in which WrestleMania had a live audience happened to be at the event’s 35th rendition in New York and the former WWE star wanted to make sure a first-timer got to soak in every possible minute of that monumental experience.
That first-timer was Candice LeRae as a good deal of the women’s roster competed in a pre-show battle royal in front of the fans live at MetLife Stadium. LeRae was initially booked to be the first combatant eliminated (in which Carmella ultimately won), but it was Maria who did the honors for LaRae instead. A fan on Twitter asked her if that was indeed a decision on her part.
“It was,” Maria Tweeted. “I wanted Candice to not be first. I didn’t care how far I went but for Candice it was her first Wrestlemania and I wanted for her to at least me able to look around. She deserved better. Candice is amazing!!”

Much has changed since then as Maria happens to no longer be associated with WWE and LaRae is living up to Kanellis’s “amazing” claims as a major heel on NXT.
