MSK only won the NXT Tag Team Championships a week ago at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, but the champions were ready for their first title defense on Wednesday night. In a match against Killian Dain and Drake Maverick, Wes Lee and Nash Carter came out on top. Still, their celebration was quickly interrupted by Imperium, who ambushed Dain after the match.

After winning the chance to face MSK, Maverick & Dain looked ready to put up a good fight, but things fell apart for them rather quickly. Late in the match, Dain landed a powerbomb on Lee and attempted to slam Maverick onto him. Thankfully for the champions, Carter was able to move his partner out of the way. He then hit a slingshot stunner on Dain to incapacitate him, which allowed MSK to put Maverick down for the count.

Following the match, Imperium’s Alexander Wolfe confronted Dain. The two heavyweights stared each other down before Fabian Achiner and Marcel Barthel appeared and attacked Dain from behind. The trio then assaulted Dain and stood tall over him.
