Report: All Elite Wrestling Planning To Run Friday Night TV Tapings Prior To PPV Events

All Elite Wrestling may be adjusting their television tapings to accommodate their upcoming pay-per-view schedule.

According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, All Elite Wrestling is planning on hosting Friday night television tapings on the week of their pay-per-view events. It was noted that the plan may start in St. Louis with the scheduled event at the Chaifetz Arena on November 5. AEW Full Gear is currently scheduled for Saturday, November 6 and that same week, there is also a live episode of Dynamite scheduled for Wednesday, November 3.

It’s worth noting that the content on these planned shows was not specified, so it’s possible that AEW could tape Elevation, Dark or Dynamite content on these Friday shows. The Chaifetz Arena has a reported television capacity of just under 7,500.

All Elite Wrestling will also be hosting a ‘Friday Night Dynamite’ television taping on May 28 ahead of the AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view, but that move was in relation to being pre-empted on Wednesday, May 26 due to the NBA Playoff schedule on TNT. Tickets for the event are on sale now.

On a related note, the May 19 episode of Dynamite will also mark the last time for a few weeks that Dynamite will air on Wednesdays due to the NBA on TNT schedule. TNT already has games scheduled for Thursday, May 27 and June 3 (as well as Wednesday in those respective weeks), so AEW would have to move to Friday those weeks. TNT currently has games scheduled for June 9, 16 and 23, meaning Dynamite would have to air pre-empted on Wednesdays or on a different night during those weeks.

Aside from the May 28 taping, AEW has not commented publicly on any plans for schedule changes due to the NBA Playoffs, but the move is not unprecedented. AEW Dynamite was pre-empted last year due to basketball, including the special  “Saturday Night Dynamite” broadcast on August 22, 2020.
