Lance Storm Praises Young Bucks vs. Varsity Blonds; Got ‘Midnight Express Vibes’

Lance Storm believed that the main event of Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite delivered in two specific senses. The former United States Champion joined Bryan Alvarez to give his thoughts on the program, and had some strong praise for The Young Bucks battling the Varsity Blonds.

“That story highlighted Pillman very, very well and there was a story to this match,” Lance said before expressing his appreciation for Matt and Nick Jackson as heels and made a legendary comparison. “When they were babyfaces I liked them less because I found there were more a lot of moves, but it’s like there was a story to this match and they did a phenomenal job and to agree with Dave [Meltzer] on an occasion, the beginning of that match I absolutely had Midnight Express vibes with them. You know, feed me arm drags, taking the hip tosses and just bumping for these guys and moving so quickly it definitely had an old school Midnight Express vibe with the way they made these kids look good to start and then got heat.

“That sharpshooter teasing the submission and so forth at the end with Pillman and then Pillman refusing to give up and of course, being positioned so we see his face, Pillman was highlighted so well in the end of that and I even DM’ed him afterwards. I was like, ‘I trust you thanked the Young Bucks like a 1,000 times tonight cause they really did a helluva job.'”

Lance gave further thoughts saying how the bout accomplished two specific matters.

“To me it was like the perfect tag match in there was the team that ‘went over’ and the team that ‘got over’ and they weren’t the same thing. They accomplished two things in one match. It was really good.”
