Tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown was supposed to end with Roman Reigns addressing the state of the WWE Universal Championship. Instead, it ended with a shocking return by the Rated-R Superstar.
Reigns and Paul Heyman made their way out to the ring tonight, where Heyman went off on a tirade that included praising Reigns for “demolishing” the entire SmackDown division in his domination. Heyman then teased that Reigns would be doing something that had never been done before on network television, but just as Reigns got the microphone, Edge’s music hit, shocking everyone including the WWE Universal Champion.
Edge came down to the ring and quickly got into it with Reigns, knocking him out of the ring and slamming his head against the commentary table before Reigns got a Superman Punch in on Edge inside the ring. However, Edge continued to dominate, hitting Reigns with a massive spear before Jimmy Uso attempted to come down and defend his cousin. Unfortunately for Uso, Edge also took him down, hitting Uso with a spear through the security barricade outside of the ring. After getting back in the ring, Edge called out Reigns, who had already retreated up the ramp.
